To think that Google went from “the latest search engine” to a well-worn verb in daily speech, to an empire of properties and tools. Yes, Google Earth is freaking amazing, Google AdWords a common online marketing tactic, and their acquisition of YouTube has pushed online video high up the corporate playground/battlefield. And speaking of playgrounds, if you’ve not seen it yet, Time’s photo essay of the Googleplex is a fun view too.
So what could we possibly promote for Google? Well, I was turned onto gMail a while back, wooed by its email convo structure and integrated IM (and related archive/search abilities). Google Calendar has been a welcome addition (a work/family sharing plus), but a recent post on Web Work Daily titled “Rock Your Google Calendar in 18 Ways” is a must read for those in the calendar mindset, be they current or potential users.
